Biography

Tal Walker is an imaginative and passionate Israeli/Belgian concert pianist. He is an excellent interpreter of Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven and Schumann and specializes in the French repertoire (Debussy, Fauré, Ravel and many more). His teachers in France, Belgium and the Netherlands were taught by some of the greatest Parisian pianists such as: Arthur Rubinstein, Alfred Cortot, Marguerite Long, Yvonne Lefébure, Germaine Mounier and Vlado Perlemuter.

In 2017 Tal has won a bronze medal at the 18th Osaka International Music Competition in Japan. He was selected artist in residency at the prestigious Villa Lena in Tuscany, Italy (2018) and the Banff Centre of Arts and Creativity in Alberta, Canada (2019). He was recently awarded the RCM Bursary for his D.Mus studies in piano performance at the Royal College of Music in London, U.K (2020).

Tal has performed on various stages in Belgium, France, Germany, Israel, Italy and the Netherlands, including “Salle Cortot” in Paris and the Royal Flemish Opera in Antwerp. He has performed as a soloist with the Torun Symphony Orchestra (Poland), the “Orchestra Filarmonica Giovanile d’Abruzzo” (Italy) and Antwerp’s Royal Academy’s orchestra (Belgium). Additionally Tal was invited to perform in the festival “Terres de Paroles” in Normandy (France), and has performed in various chamber music ensembles, among them he premiered Israeli contemporary pieces and recorded piano trios to the Dutch Radio.

Tal has participated in prestigious music festivals and international master classes such as “Tel-Hai International Piano Master Classes” in Israel, “Euro-Arts Music Festival” in Germany, “Musica Aeterna” in Belgium, “Académie Internationale d’Eté de Nice” in France and “Académie de Musique Françise” in Paris, where he worked with renowned artists, such as Philippe Entremont (France), Michel Béroff (France), Jean Philippe Colard (France), Bertrand Chamayou (France), Henry Barda (France), Claire-Marie Le Guay (France), Jean-Claude Pennetier (France), Diane Andersen (Denmark/Belgium), Aquiles Delle Vigne (Argentina/Belgium), Phillip Kawin (U.S.A), Jose Ribera (Spain\Denmark), Jacob Leuschner (Germany), Marie-Josephe Jude (France), Jean-François Heiser (France), Ralph Van Raat (the Netherlands) and Frank Braley (France).

Tal Walker has graduated from Herzliya’s City Conservatory, where he received piano lessons from Mrs. Larisa Banchik and composition lessons with Dr. Ilya Heifets. At the age of seventeen, Tal was accepted to Tel Aviv University’s “Buchmann-Mehta School of Music”, where he studied with the pianist Mr. Daniel Gortler and subsequently with Professor Asaf Zohar. He has completed his Bachelor of Music degree under the guidance of Professor Avi Schönfeld at the Maastricht Academy of Music in the Netherlands, where he received excellence scholarship throughout his studies. In 2016, Tal has graduated his Master of Music degree with ‘great distinction’ at the Royal Music Academy of Antwerp in Belgium as a student of the pianist Ms. Eliane Rodrigues. Among his other activities as an artist, Tal Walker has received lessons in Paris for five years by Ms. Françoise Thinat at the École Normale de Musique de Paris – Alfred Cortot and by renowned pianist Mr. Philippe Entremont.

Tal Walker is the founder and the artistic director of “Monsieur Croche” concert series and master classes in Antwerp (Belgium). During the concert series Tal has performed a large repertoire of French music together with various artists such as: Sodi Braide, Françoise Thinat, Eliane Rodrigues, Antonio Galera, Delphine Bardin and many more.
